VIRUS CORNER

94,000+ viruses - preventative measures are key!

There are more than 94,000 viruses in existence today that could possibly infect your network and computer. Don't settle for a single solution and think it will protect your entire business.

Preventative virus measures are critical to the ongoing success of your business. As threats increase, multiple preventative measures are the best defense.

Ideally, you should utilize both a managed virus filter and a local virus filter. By implementing the dual filters, your virus protection should operate at a 96% to 99% effective rate.

When searching for virus filtering solutions, make sure that the filters you select:

  • Have an easy-to-use management interface
  • Are designed for non-technical people
  • Automatically update the virus filtering rules at least twice a day
  • Have a proven track record with a client base that you can verify

For your review, we have provided a link to a "White Paper" that outlines how a managed virus and spam filtering service works. You should find the reading informative.

http://www.cyberlynk.net/documents/whitepaper_spamvirusfiltering.pdf

When deciding on a managed virus filtering service, most companies look at the cost of the service without really knowing how much virus and spam email cost them on an annual basis.

On average, viruses and spam email cost companies over 152 production hours annually. The processing of 20 virus/spam emails per day, per employee, for a company with 25 employees at an average hourly rate of $20.00 will cost a company well over $3,000.00 annually.

Find out how much viruses and spam email is costing your company by clicking on the link below.

Give us a call if you would like to try our managed virus and spam filtering service. We'll give you a 30-day free trial. Your risk is "Zero" but your gain could be great!

BUSINESS CORNER

The cost of a free email account and no website

As an ISP, we work with many small businesses everyday. What's interesting to note is the large amount of small businesses that utilize free email accounts for their business correspondence and don’t have a website. We see it all the time. I'm talking about email addresses like: towing@aol.com or cruzequipment@wi.rr.com or marinemotors@hotmail.com.

How does a free email account and no website affect a business? It can hurt! It's all about perception in the clients mind!

Read the three examples below and decide which person you would contact first in each instance.

Example 1 - towing@aol.com or Mike.Harris@AutoTowing.com
Example 2 - cruzequipment@wi.rr.com or Tom@CruzEquipment.com
Example 3 - marinemotors@hotmail.com or KJohnson@MarineMotors.com

If you're like us, you'll contact the person with a personalized email address first. Also, you'll most likely type in their web address and see what their site looks like.

Again, it's all about perception! Not your perception, but your potential customer’s perception.

Most companies don't realize how easy and inexpensive it is to have their own custom email address and website. They can have both for only $25.00 per month or $300.00 annually.

WEBSITE CORNER

FTP web based control panel launch!

We’re extremely pleased to announce the launch of our new "FTP Control Panel" on Thursday, August 12th, 2004.

The new control panel provides a simple to use web interface that can be accessed anywhere via the Internet.

New accounts and folders can be created with ease and authorization can be granted with the click of a button.

You may be asking yourself what is FTP? Well let us explain quickly. FTP is short for "file transfer protocol." FTP is the method of choice for sharing large files with customers and vendors via the Internet.

When using FTP, there is typically no file size restriction and the uploading and downloading of the file is much quicker than sending it via email.

FTP is to Internet file sharing as a speedboat is to a canoe race. Overall, it's the best way to share and transfer large files via the Internet.
